1996Summer Fifth summer record for the state. Single bird in breeding plumage observed 7/2–16 on Lake Harriet in Hennepin (CMy et al.; The Loon 68:135–136).
1996Fall Reported 10/21 Lake Superior, St. Louis Co. (adult) PS et al. (The Loon 68:244–245); 10/25 Mille Lacs Lake, Crow Wing Co. (1 bird) KB; 11/7 White Bear Lake, Ramsey Co. (juvenile) KB.

1998Fall The three individuals seen off Park Point on 10/18 St. Louis KB, PS were unprecedented in number in one location. First county record 11/8 Itasca (L. Winnibigoshish) PS, KSu. Singles were also reported 10/5–20 Mille Lacs AH, PS, 10/11–11/12 Crow Wing AH, 10/11–11/12 Lake KE et al.

1999Winter First winter report: picked up near Marshall, Lyon Co. on 1/5 (fide JSc), then released on nearby Redwood River on 1/5 or 1/6, but subsequently died by 1/7 †RgS (The Loon 72:178–179).
2000Spring One adult in alternate plumage reported 5/29–6/2 St. Louis (near Brighton Beach) †SL, †SWe, †KE.
2000Summer Sixth summer record for the state; one adult in alternate plumage, originally found in late May (The Loon 72:205), seen 6/2–3 on L. Superior near Duluth, St. Louis Co. †TPW, †KRE et al.
2000Fall Record high number of reports, exceeding the seven in Fall 1998. All reports: 9/30 Cass (L.
